Sarah Anderson, Independent Member
Sarah Anderson is currently a director of Simple Solutions Ltd., which makes children's products for the retail industry, that are sold in the UK and overseas.
In 1986, she founded and ran the Mayday Group for 19 years, before selling it. This was an employment business and agency, specialising in providing catering staff, with 4 offices in London.
Other positions she currently holds include:
- Non–executive Director of Job Centre Plus
- UK Commissioner for Employment & Skills
- Members of ACAS council
- Member of the Employment Policy Committee of CBI
- Member of Expert Group for 14–19 yrs., advising DCSF
Sarah is also currently leading an independent Government review on regulatory guidance – the Anderson Review.
Prior to running her own business, Sarah worked as a professional and Training Manager for Compass Services, having initially trained in Hotel & Catering Management.
In her past, Sarah's roles have included a number of non–executive directorships in the private sector for SMEs and 2 plc's, as well as a number of roles in the public sector, including as a member of the Women & Work Commission
Most recently, Sarah was the voluntary Director of London Samaritans for 3 years.
